RELOADING: Case Preparation

The CM2000 or maybe the CM500 is the media separator you want.. And if you need something to prop up the corner of your house this is the one you want. A night and day no doubt in my mind comparison. If you simply want the best media separator in the home reloading business, get the Dillon CM500 or CM2000.

We like to think we're giving you the best experience possible. We still put the same importance on critiquing each other, and we still realize we have much to learn and room to improve. But we're more comfortable and know we're giving students a great value and not wasting their time.

How to Choose a Carry Gun

But the most important question we can face is about training. How do we use this weapon for best effect? How to use it inside our home when loved ones are a thin wall away? How do we use it if we’re caught up in a armed robbery? What if we’re car-jacked. Home invasions are on the rise, does everyone in your home know their role and are they well trained to perform that role?

Today was special. I received an email the afternoon before letting me know my long awaited Glock G43 was in and waiting for me pick up. The G43 is Glock's answer to the small single stack 9mm market and Glock fans the world over have been waiting for with more than a little patience.

Priorities For A “Sub-Compact” Concealed Carry Pistol

This article in a direct response to a really good student who is struggling with her first concealed carry purchase.  She’s sharp enough to just not copy what I or others do.. and instead to think this out for herself while still asking really good questions.  Feel free to offer “Sarah” your opinion in the comments section, ESPECIALLY if different from my own.   I hope you find this useful.   Steve   Sarah –   I ran across this test today while going through my normal reading.. It’s a Guns and Ammo test comparing 10 of the most popular single stack 9mm pistols. Keep in mind, this article is a teaser so you’ll go out and buy their actual magazine, but there’s still a lot there. The most valuable part of this test is the video. Watch it through to the end.               In my mind, which is based on my experience, I prioritize a sub-compact carry gun in this order:   a) The cartridge must absolutely be on the FBI’s lis ...

Pure heaven! It didn't matter if I was in a Bradley, a C-131, or even the Whale from a carrier deck, they worked way better than anything else available. And because they were so small you could carry them in your pocket and the string allowed you to loop them around your neck unseen.

10 Things I’ve Noticed At Ranges That Hurt Those Who Conceal & Carry

You might not believe this but it’s true. A full 60% of the guns students bring to my concealed carry classes, have at least one malfunction during the very short 30 round qualification test. Wow, 60%. How can you reconcile that with carrying concealed? It’s like driving a car whose brakes fail 60% of the time. Or an airplane whose motor fails 60% of the time.

So Close, I Almost Lost Everything..

It’s been a few days. When I think about it I still shake. It’s a bit awkward between my best friend and I. I apologized and tried to explain.. but we both know I screwed the pooch.

I think I mentioned that 25 years ago a concealed carry permit was impossible to get in most states.. but now all but a couple make it easy. The end result of this is a very competitive gun market with many more manufacturers with a plethora of styles, types, designs, and price points unique to the concealed carry market has ensued. Or in other words a cra&load of choices. Good choices for the most part. But from these choices there are only 2-3 I’d personally bother with.

I'm not saying you need to be Shooter Tim The Big Bad Range Guy. You just need to be the guy who spends enough time at the range to keep your skills within reason. For many of us this is once a month. One hour, one day a month. And don't forget to dry fire. For every hour of range practice you should be putting in 2-3 hours of dry fire.

We can also travel and set up classes anywhere your company or agency has a need including neighbouring states as long as a range is available.  If you have such a requirement give us a call at 217.298-1452 and we can talk specifics.

Would you like to sponsor your own CCW class?

Many people find their own home more comfortable and/or for medical or other reasons would rather have four hour classes instead of eight hour classes.  Champaign CCW enjoys teaching small groups of family members, family & friends, and any small group you can put together and where you have room to meet for the required hours and a place on your property to accomplish the range portion of the class.  Call us at 217-298-1452 or email us and we'll talk about how to set up your own class.
